ST. JOHN, U.S.VIRGIN ISLANDS
St John is the smallest and most beautiful of the U.S.Virgin Islands. Lawrence Rockefeller bought and donated the land which became the Virgin Islands National Park in 1956. Some cruise lines stop here early in the morning to drop off passengers wishing to spend time here. For those arriving in St. Thomas there are frequent ferry boats departing from downtown St Thomas to St John at a nominal rate.
There are forty coves enclosing a hundred hues of blue and green and semi-circlart beaches of powdery white coral sand. Trunk bay is said to be the perfect beach on this 20 square mile island. Take a taxi around this scenic island to Bordeaux Mountian for breathtaking views of the Atlantic, Caribbean and nearby islands. Want to hobnob with the rich? Head over to Caneel Bay Resort where ordinary mortals can stroll the grounds, walk the beaches and buy a drink or lunch.
Admiral’s tip: Trunk Bay is the in spot to be whether you are an expert or novice snorkeler. Leave your shopping for St. Thomas.
