Holland America Line has been rated as “Best Private Island” by Porthole Magazine.  Located on Little San Salvador Island, 280 nautical miles from Fort Lauderdale, this little piece of tropical paradise is 1,700 acres, only two percent, which is developed, and features a huge interior lagoon and a two-mile crescent of perfect beach rimmed by blue water.   This island is so pristine and unspoiled that it has been designated a Wild Bird Reserve by the Bahamian National Trust.

Beautiful air-conditioned beachfront cabanas for rent with ceiling fans, freshwater showers and private changing area, refrigerator, dining table and chairs, sundeck with chaise lounges, misting station and optional butler service.  Water Sports Centers with kayaks, Hobie Cats, aqua-cycles, floating foam mats and sailboats are for rent at the waterfront.  You can even receive a beachside massage!

Things to do and enjoy include horseback riding by land or sea, a stingray adventure which includes snorkeling and swimming with stingrays in a secluded cove, or go deep-sea fishing for wahoo, snapper and grouper.  Take an island biking tour, an Eco Lagoon tour or go parasailing over the Caribbean.  Take a glass bottom boat ride, scuba adventure or do nothing at all!

Recently opened on Half Moon’s main beach is Aqua-Park.  It features five waterslides, water fountains and cannons, floating faux creatures such as an octopus and whale bar for kids.  You can also find a replica of a pirate shipwreck, a boardwalk and a bar.

An open air lunch buffet is proved and serves burgers, ribs, chicken and fish, plus fries, corn on the cob, salads, fruit, cookies and cakes.  Coffee, tea and punch are provided.
